Currently serving as President & CEO of the Ottawa Community Foundation, stewarding more than $300 million in charitable assets and helping mobilize philanthropy to address complex community challenges. Throughout my career, I have led organizations working at the intersection of poverty reduction, food security, community health, philanthropy, and public policy, delivering measurable results through innovation, collaboration, and strategic leadership.

2023 – Present

The Ottawa Community Foundation manages a $300M endowment and provides critical philanthropic investment to hundreds of local charities, strengthening the charitable ecosystem of the National Capital Region.

  • Lead an organization stewarding more than $300 million in charitable assets and distributing approximately $30 million annually to strengthen communities across the National Capital Region.
  • Led the establishment and spin-off of the Ottawa Climate Action Fund, creating an independent vehicle to accelerate community climate action.
  • Positioned OCF as a leading community convener around youth homelessness, climate action, and systems-level philanthropy.
  • Strengthened donor engagement and community partnerships while stewarding more than $300M in charitable assets.
  • Support board governance and provide executive leadership to advance the Foundation's long-term strategic direction.

Ottawa Cancer Foundation

2020 – 2023

The Ottawa Cancer Foundation invests in cancer research, clinical trials, and supportive care programs, having committed more than $56M locally to improve outcomes for patients in Eastern Ontario.

  • Led the most significant strategic transformation in the Foundation's history, redefining its mission from funding cancer research to delivering direct community-based cancer support services.
  • Created the first Community Cancer Hub in Eastern Ontario, bringing together innovative non-medical support programs designed to improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals and families affected by cancer.
  • Successfully guided stakeholders, donors, healthcare partners, and the Board through a complex organizational transition while maintaining community trust and support.
  • Provided full organizational leadership: fundraising strategy, brand, communications, marketing, stakeholder relations, and supportive care program delivery.
  • Led the Foundation's advocacy and community relations, building partnerships with healthcare institutions, researchers, and government stakeholders.

Chief Executive Officer

Ottawa Food Bank

2013 – 2020

One of Canada's largest food banks, serving more than 37,000 individuals monthly through a network of 114 community agencies and recognized as a Top Pick Charity by Charity Intelligence Canada.

  • Repositioned the organization from a traditional food distribution model to a health-focused food security strategy, recognizing the connection between nutrition, health outcomes, and poverty.
  • Expanded innovative farm-to-food-bank programming and introduced year-round procurement of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as nutrient-rich proteins including beef, chicken, and fish, significantly improving the quality and nutritional value of food distributed throughout the network.
  • Partnered with Ottawa Public Health to establish evidence-informed nutrition standards and evaluate food purchasing practices, strengthening the organization's focus on health outcomes and community well-being.
  • Created a capacity-building grants program that enabled partner food banks and community agencies to acquire refrigeration, storage, and distribution equipment, increasing access to fresh and healthy food across the region.
  • Elevated food insecurity as a public policy issue through media engagement, government relations, and sector leadership, helping shape broader conversations about poverty, housing, health, and social inclusion.
  • Managed a $16 million operating budget and oversaw a logistics and distribution system delivering more than 7.5 million pounds of food annually through a network of community partners.
  • Served as a national sector leader through Feed Ontario and Food Banks Canada, contributing to governance modernization and collaborative approaches to addressing food insecurity across Canada.

The Salvation Army — National Capital, Kingston, Quinte & Eastern Ontario

2006 – 2013

The Salvation Army is Canada's largest non-governmental social service provider, operating programs in homelessness support, poverty reduction, addiction recovery, and emergency disaster response — with an international presence in 131 countries.

  • Oversaw all public relations and fundraising operations for a major regional division, managing major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships, government funding, direct mail, and special events.
  • Served as the organization's primary spokesperson; led marketing, strategic communications, branding, and social media initiatives.
